If you have ever watched a child sound out words, then it is easy to see just how tedious it can be when your mind does the same thing. While you may actually be reading much faster now, there is still need to eliminate subvocalization. Even changing this one bad habit will result in average reading speed doubling, if not tripling. In addition, when you eliminate subvocalization, there will be more time to think about and formulate your answers to any given problem. This, in turn, can make it easier to start a new career, or advance in the one you have now. Regardless of your future goals, being able to do this should be one of your primary building blocks. Learning how to eliminate subvocalization is as easy as buying one simple computer program that will retrain all of your bad reading habits.
When employees are stuck in an entry level job for too many years, it is a good indicator that something is wrong. Typically, supervisors and co-workers will not want to come right out and say that you appear to be slow witted. That said, if employees do not eliminate subvocalization, the amount of time that it takes to read something can create a very negative effect all around. Consider a situation where you ask someone for an answer based on written materials. If they take too long, nervous feelings will develop. This is exactly what happens to others when you do not get rid of this habit.
Today, being able to eliminate subvocalization will help a worker achieve the following goals:
• Appear more intelligent and responsive when co-workers and supervisors ask you to evaluate written information.
• Prevent long gaps in conversations that should be filled with responses and answers.
• Take part in meetings without staying stuck on page one of the agenda.
If you take the time to learn speed reading skills like eliminating subvocalization, then you will find that your career opportunities increase by an incredible amount. You'll get more done at work, and have people fighting to give you a new opportunity.
