Anyone have a good suggestion for a training DVD on volleyball?
Our team just started playing this week and we are looking to learn basic fundamentals to hopefully improve by seasons end.
The best DVD's are the ones by Murv Dunphrey (Pepperdine Men's) and John Dunning (Stanford Women). There are a bunch of other coaches who have good videos as well (Mary Wise and Al Scates are the next best ones). Good Luck.
If you're looking for Cisco training, then a CCNA is most probably what you're looking for. A Cisco training course is designed for people who wish to understand and work with routers and switches. Routers connect networks of computers to another collection of computer networks over the internet or dedicated lines.
Jobs that use this knowledge mean you'll be more likely to work for big organisations that have various different locations but need to keep in touch. The other possibility is being employed by an internet service provider. Both types of jobs command good salaries.
We'd recommend a tailored route that covers everything you need to know ahead of starting your training in Cisco skills.
A question; why is it better to gain commercial qualifications instead of familiar academic qualifications gained through tech' colleges and universities? The IT sector is now aware that to cover the necessary commercial skill-sets, proper accreditation from the likes of Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe is closer to the mark commercially - for considerably less. University courses, as a example, clog up the training with a lot of background study - with a syllabus that's far too wide. Students are then prevented from learning the core essentials in sufficient depth.
Assuming a company is aware what areas need to be serviced, then all they have to do is advertise for the particular skill-set required. Vendor-based syllabuses are set to meet an exact requirement and can't change from one establishment to the next (like academia frequently can and does).
Usually, trainers will provide a bunch of books and manuals. This isn't very interesting and not really conducive to studying effectively. Where we can utilise all of our senses into our learning, then we normally see dramatically better results.
You can now study via interactive discs. By watching and listening to instructors on video tutorials you'll absorb the modules, one by one, through the expert demonstrations. Then you test your knowledge by using practice-lab's. Every company that you look at must be pushed to demo some examples of their courseware. You're looking for evidence of tutorial videos and demonstrations and many interactive sections.
Select CD and DVD ROM based physical training media wherever available. You're then protected from broadband outages, failure and signal quality issues etc.
A knowledgeable and specialised consultant (vs a salesperson) will ask questions and seek to comprehend your current level of ability and experience. This is paramount to understanding the point at which you need to start your studies. It's worth remembering, if in the past you've acquired any accreditation or direct-experience, then you will often be able to begin at a different level to someone who is new to the field. Working through a basic PC skills course first is often the best way to get into your computer training, depending on your current skill level.
An area that's often missed by trainees considering a training program is that of 'training segmentation'. This basically means how the program is broken down into parts for drop-shipping to you, which makes a huge difference to what you end up with. By and large, you will join a program that takes between and 1 and 3 years and get posted one section at a time - from one exam to the next. While this may sound logical on one level, consider this: What if for some reason you don't get to the end of all the sections or exams? Maybe the prescribed order won't suit you? Because of nothing that's your fault, you may not meet the required timescales and not receive all the modules you've paid for.
In a perfect world, you want ALL the study materials up-front - meaning you'll have all of them to come back to at any time in the future - whenever it suits you. This allows a variation in the order that you attack each section if another more intuitive route presents itself.
Think about the following facts and pay great regard to them if you've been persuaded that the sales ploy of examination guarantees seems like a good idea:
They've allowed costings for it one way or another. One thing's for sure - it isn't free - it's just been rolled into the price of the whole package. It's well known in the industry that if students pay for their relevant examinations, at the time of taking them, there's a much better chance they'll pass every time - because they'll think of what they've paid and so will prepare more thoroughly.
Go for the best offer you can find at the time, and hang on to your cash. You'll also be able to choose where to do the examinations - so you can choose somewhere closer to home. Including money in your training package for exam fees (plus interest - if you're financing your study) is a false economy. It's not your job to boost the training company's account with additional funds just to give them a good cash-flow! There are those who hope that you won't get round to taking them - so they get to keep the extra funds. You should fully understand that re-takes via training companies with an 'Exam Guarantee' are always heavily controlled. You will be required to do mock exams until you've proven that you're likely to pass.
Average exam fees were 112 pounds or thereabouts last year through Prometric or VUE centres around the United Kingdom. So don't be talked into shelling out hundreds or thousands of pounds more to get 'Exam Guarantees', when common sense dictates that the best guarantee is consistent and systematic learning, coupled with quality exam simulation software.
