Maybe you have seen a commercial on TV talking about a slow computer and you think “hey that is me”! Well guess what, a lot of people start off with a fast new computer and then over time it slows down. There can be many reasons for a computer slowing down but a common reason is the registry files get messed up to a point where you may want to optimize your pc to help you clear the clutter and clean things up a bit.

In addition to having registry problems another big problem is people love to install new software which drains resources on their fast new machine. After awhile it can begin to take its toll especially if you are constantly installing new software. Yes you have a big new hard drive and lots of memory, but it can only hold so much data. And if you are like some people, you are probably adding video and pictures to your hard drive as well which can really eat up your free space.

Adding new software and taking up additional space is not the only problem related to software on your computer. Another problem is when you uninstall the software it may not uninstall properly. Sometimes traces of the software are left behind which may cause some errors.

To overcome some of these issues with respect to software you may want to use a special uninstaller program to help you. These types of programs can make uninstalling unwanted software go much more smoothly and clean things up better as well. So you may wish to download one to test out before you plan on uninstalling another program on your computer.

So what types of software programs are people uninstalling? Thousands actually if you think about it. First off you have the really popular software you can buy at a store that most people are familiar with. Then you have software you can download from the Internet, which there is a ton. So therefore when you want to say for example uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS you may want to try an uninstaller made to do the job. Just try to stick with it by removing any software you are no longer using to free up some space and maybe things will run a little quicker for you.

Lastly you may have unwanted software on your computer you do not even know about. This type of software may be referred to as spyware or adware. You may have gotten it on your computer when you installed some other software. OR maybe it was somehow installed another way? For example maybe you want to uninstall Safety Alerter 2006 as an example of unwanted softwaree. Or maybe you did want it, but forgot about it. Only you know the answer to that!

In the beginning, most everyone eagerly awaited each "upgrade" that windows provided, such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows XP. Waiting for this new version, Windows Vista, was fraught with anticipation as well. However, mixed Windows Vista reviews became the norm. Most printers would not work with Vista, games seemed slow to respond and it seemed like no matter what you tried, you kept getting the message that Vista would not work with your particular hardware or software.

Of course, Microsoft gave us the standard story about anything new is bound to have bugs or problems and they were working overtime to get them fixed. They were busy getting all of the windows downloads updated, offering computer help if they could. There were many compatibility, graphical and performance issues to be resolved. Microsoft now tells us that nearly 77,000 hardware products are supported, which is more than double the number supported at launch and that in 9 out of 10 cases when you plug in a device it should just work, with no installation disc required.

Has Microsoft backed up their promise of improvement? Well, since it launched Windows Vista, it now supports approximately 97 of the top 100 consumer software programs, including AppleiTunes and Adobe Photoshop. They also state that they have over 2,700 different applications that are certified to work with Vista.

So, even with all of the issues described, does Microsoft still feel that Vista is the better operating system? When asked, they said that Windows XP is a great operating system as was its predecessor, Windows ME but with more and more people investing in identity theft products, security is high on everyone's agenda. Their goal is to always make each new version of Windows better and more secure than the last and feel that they have done just that with the Vista operating system. So what are some of the major highlights that they feel Vista has over XP?

There are definitely improvements in some areas. For example, parents will likely appreciate the more powerful parental controls, allowing them to feel secure in knowing they are able to make the internet a little bit safer for their children. Windows Vista also boasts a 60% less likelihood of being infected with spyware or malware over windows XP service pack 2. While keeping the phrase "work smarter not harder" in mind, they have created Windows Mobility Center, Sync Center and Windows Meeting Space, which were all designed to make your work easier. They have also kept entertainment in mind with the Windows Media Center where you can edit an HD video, watch and record TV and organize your photos with Windows Photo Gallery.
