5 Ways to Make Your Visitors Want to Buy

by John Neyman

In his book “Practical Thinking”, Dr. Edward de Bono talks about the basic thinking processes, how one understands, and the ways to be right or wrong in thinking. He said that the main purpose of thinking is not just to accumulate knowledge but also to get enough knowledge in order to act on something. He also said that, in practice, the validity of an idea does not have any bearing in being right in thinking, for being right is a feeling, a belief that one is right during the time of thinking.

To put this into practical use, you should write your ad copy so that your visitors will feel it is right to buy your products. Make them feel that it is their idea to make the purchase. By doing so, it will be easier for you to persuade these potential customers to hit that buy button.

Here, then, are some ways to create that feeling of rightness in your readers:

1. Provide the benefits of your product. People usually buy because of the benefits, not because of the features of a product. They think, “How can this help me? What’s in it for me?” By providing the benefits, you can show how your product can avoid pain. For example, you may say, “Never again be rejected when asking for a date.” You can also show how your product can gain pleasure. An example, you can say, “Imagine yourself opening the doors of your dream home.”

2. Use “goody-goody” words to build up the positive emotional reaction of your readers. Words such as honesty, freedom, dignity, love and dream, convey such emotions that your readers react positively to them. For example, you can say, “Financial freedom for you.” Your visitor will then have the feeling that financial freedom is possible for them, and they may want to take a look at your product.

3. Use “bad” words to elicit the negative reaction. Using “bad” words, such as hate, weak, or debt convey the opposite. By using these words, you can heighten the negative feelings of your readers that they may see your product as a tool to avoid or end their pain. You can say, for example, “Don’t you just hate your job?”

4. Assume your visitors will buy your product. A popular line in ad copy starts with the words “Who wants to be the next”. For example, by asking, “Who wants to be the next millionaire” you are assuming that by buying your product, your visitor will become a millionaire. You can also start your sales letter with the greeting, “Dear Future Millionaire”.

5. Add a little humor in your sales letter. Humor can put people in a good mood, making them to agree with you and lower their resistance to buy. This can provide that little extra push needed to close a deal.

Remember; make your readers feel that buying from you is a right decision they are about to do. Provide the benefits of your product, use words laden with emotions, and add a little humor in your ad copy. This way, you may see a drastic improvement in your sales conversion.

Basic website security measures

by John Neyman

With more people setting up their own home based, online business every day, the amount of vulnerable web sites is increasing at an alarming pace. And the blame for this lies mostly within the Internet Marketing community itself. Why? Using the powerful techniques of persuasion at their disposal, many so-called Internet Marketing Gurus lure people into setting up their own online business by providing them with ready-made, plug and play web sites that contain basic security flaws. Do not forget that most of these sites are made by marketers, not programmers! And the consequences for you can be disastrous…

One of the most common vulnerabilities - and paradoxically the most easily cured - is to ensure that each directory on your site contains an index file. By default, web browsers, when directed to a directory look first of all for a file named index. This could be followed by a variety of extensions such as .html, .htm, .shtml or .php to name the most common ones.

If the browser does not encounter the index file, it will display the entire directory in the form of a clickable navigation list, disclosing all its contents for the world to see, thus leaving your precious and often restricted content wide open to any type of malicious action.

To prevent this from happening you should make sure that you have at least one or a combination of the 4 following basic security measures in place:

Security measure 1: Ensure that each directory contains an index file by renaming the default page you want to be shown to index. Then make sure that all the internal links to that page are updated as well!

Security measure 2: Create an empty index file. When arriving at the directory, a blank page will be shown, but you will no longer be displaying a directory listing. You could also provide a message and a clickable link on that page to take your visitors to the correct page.

Security measure 3: Create an index file that contains a redirection to the page you want to be shown. There are many free and easily implemented code snippets available that will allow you to do so and your visitors will not even notice that they are being redirected.

Security measure 4: If you have downloadable content that people have to pay for, do not keep it it the same directory as the sales page, but keep it in a separate, secure directory and set up your payment processor to that directory. This way you ensure that only people who have paid for the content have access to it.

When selling products online as an Internet Marketer or otherwise, you are more prone to people trying to get to your restricted content so as to avoid having to pay for it. These 4 basic security measures should help you drastically reduce the risk of unlawful access to your site and save you from a lot of headaches and worries.

5 Simple and Easy Ways to Advertise Online

by John Neyman

Some people say that advertising is everything! Regardless if you have a product, a service, a hobby website or just want to share pictures of your wedding, you have to advertise somehow to get the traffic to your site or blog. But not all traffic is equal. There are services that can help you drive tons and tons of traffic to your site and it won’t do you any good at all because it’s not targeted traffic.

Take for example all of the many different ’surf for traffic’ or ‘traffic clicking’ programs that are out there. If you have a website that is about your hobby, say model airplanes, then what good is this traffic really going to do you? Who’s using these services?

Webmasters and marketers that want traffic on their own site. So they most likely won’t spend any more time on your page than is required by the little timer these services use and then they are gone again. Even if your site is about these traffic services (this is about the only time you will see very much benefit from using such a tool) you will still have to spend a ton of time just surfing and clicking around to get a real benefit from these programs. Once marketers realized this they switched gears. They started promoting all the different programs to a lot of other marketers to get them in their downlines, so they could get some traffic as a bonus. This became their new focus. The problem is that everyone else did exactly the same thing, so not a lot of people were surfing the internet anymore. Bottom-line is this. You need targeted traffic. So here are some tips on how you can generate exactly the traffic you need and bring the visitors you want to your website without having to chase after them.

1. Content What is your website about? Do you just have a page with a lot of links and not much else? If this is the case, think about adding some content to your website that will be of value to any potential visitors. You could write articles or find articles at one of the many directories that you can reprint on your site.

2. Talk about your experiences in your subject matter. You don’t have to put up some kind of resume (although that can work too), but rather try writing about what you are doing, as it relates to your topic of choice. Let’s look at the model airplanes again briefly, you could talk or write about the latest plane type you built, how the last time flying your plane went, what challenges you run into or perhaps even post some pictures of your plane or of you flying it.

3. Forums and bulletin boards. You could add a forum or bulletin board to your website where your visitors can interact with each other. There are a lot of free services available out there that you can use to either remotely host a forum for you, or even software you can install on your website’s server. To find some of these, just head over to your favorite search engine and you will definitely find plenty to choose from. And while you are visiting the search engine, why not run a search for any bulletin boards and forums that are already out there for your chosen topic? You could visit those and interact with the visitors there and since many allow you to post a signature or a profile, you could add a little line about your own site with a link (just check the rules of the forum first so you don’t violate any of them).

4. Start a blog. Blogs are very popular and search engines love them because they provide constantly new and fresh content. Your blog would be a great place to talk about what you are up to that day. So if you spent some time today buying new parts for your plane you could write about where you found them, how much they cost you, why you chose those parts, anything really goes. The really great part about this is that you can point links from your blog back to your website, so when the search engine stops by to grab and index your latest content, it will also stop by your website and you will start seeing very targeted traffic heading your way.

5. Write articles. Writing articles isn’t hard and can be a great source of fresh, new traffic to your website. There are a lot of ezines on any topic out there and there are also a lot of directories where you can share your article. Basically, what you do is write an article and then add a small resource box that links back to your website (just like a signature) and then let other ezine publishers know that you are allowing them to print your article in their ezine. And many publishers go to the article directories to find new content for their newsletter and even their websites. And since there are websites and ezine newsletters on any imaginable topic out there, you can’t lose. Write an article every couple of days and post it in the directories (even one a week or every two weeks will start getting you traffic). Very soon you will find new traffic coming from search engines, newsletters and websites.

Best of all, these 5 simple tips will bring targeted traffic, meaning the visitors are coming to you because they are interested in what you wrote. So there you have it, 5 easy and simple ways to advertise and drive traffic to your website at absolutely no cost.

How To Get Outstanding Flyfishing Header Graphics

by Craig Petersen

All Right, so you’re a fanatic about flyfishing, and you need to produce a outstanding website to show the public your genius. Or you’re expecting to sell your exceptional flyfishing products, or to market your accomplishments in your neighborhood as a flyfishing guide. Whatever your rationality for needing to create a site, there is one matter you truly need to dress it up: a flyfishing header graphic that stands out from the rest. There are two basic means to get one: hire someone to plan a beautiful unique header for you, or create it yourself.

The Hiring Route

If your gifts belong more in fishing than in graphics, you in all likelihood should go forward and engage a pro to design your flyfishing header. Lead Off with getting an idea of the specific artwork you want: do you have pictures, or do you require a more lively feeling? Is there a focus you need to further your business, or are you open to ideas? Is it simply a header, or are you searching for something that goes up one side and across the top, hugging your content?

Once you recognize what you want to see, it’s time to line up your graphic designer. You can search in scores of places: Elance, for example, furnishes you with freelance graphic designers for hire at reasonable prices. RentACoder is another first-class site to hire independent talent, or GetAFreelancer. At these sites, you can either put your job out for bid, and select the freelancer you like the best, or you can look through hundreds of portfolios and solicit a freelancer directly.

If money’s not a problem, locate some sites with great looks - not only fishing sites, but other action sites as well - and email the site owner, asking him to recommend the artist to you. It’s uncommon that they will turn you down.

Consider, though, if you’re going to have somebody create your graphics for you, that you may save some money in the long run and end up with a genuinely great looking site if you employ them to do an entire theme, with buttons and smaller variations of your flyfishing header graphics, instead of only a flyfishing header.

Do It Yourself

If you’re a do-it-yourself kind of individual and you do possess some artistic talent, there are some excellent programs out there that you can use to make your flyfishing header artwork. Begin, though, by charting out exactly what your header should look like, using graph paper to keep you in line. When you have a clear vision, start shopping.

For photo-realistic effects, you can’t beat Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Either delivers great graphical capabilities, optimize pictures for the Web, and Paint Shop Pro has a tremendous utility called a picture tube that drops series of images on your sheet for you. You can find great images at sites like istockphoto or stock.xchng, or you can find free GIF images at places like gif.com to use in your header. With effective planning, you may be able to design a flyfishing header that suits your intentions just fine.

3 Traffic Exchange Tips To Make Them Work For You

by John Netyman

Traffic exchanges seem to be everywhere. I always thought they were a waste of time. Basically in my mind how could you get traffic if all everyone did was surf from page to page never actually paying attention to any of the ads. Boy was I wrong.

Here are 3 traffic exchange tips that will make a difference in your traffic if you use them.

1. People actually do pay attention to part of the ad. Usually the title and maybe a couple of sentences or graphics. I know I did. The ads can be quite interesting. You certainly can get ideas for ads of your own. So what does not work. Long sales pages are boring. So are pages that immediately blare out sound or someone’s voice. I am playing music on my computer and will not even let those ads finish. I just leave and go to another page. What does work is landing pages or as they are sometimes called, splash pages. Just a short hard hitting ad with a sign up form to receive a free gift in exchange for your contact info for future follow up. These work great.

2. Surf several traffic exchanges at one time. If you are after credits then you can not wait for one ad to end and the next one to come up. You need to load up 4 or 5 traffic exchanges at a time. Work your way from one to the next until you make it back to the first one. Although this is not as fun as actually reading the ads, if you treat it like a job then your job is to get as many credits as possible and this one way to do it.

3. Read your emails and see which traffic exchanges are running specials. If one has double credits spend most of your time on it. Make the most advantage of your time. 4. Upgrade as soon as you can on your favorite traffic exchanges. This only makes sense. You earn more credits, more impressions, more text link ads, or whatever that exchange offers. When you surf each click can be worth 2 or 3 times as much as well which really makes a difference in your exposure.

Depending on the exchange you can upgrade for anywhere from $5 a month to up to $30 a month. Upgrading is up to you, but I advise it if you can afford it. This is 4 traffic exchange tips that I know work for sure because I have tried it first hand and saw a definite spike in my traffic from it.
