This is a follow-up to the news that a computer virus is causing disturbance to government websites in South Korea and the United States. Just reported some days ago, this virus circulated the web and caused chaos to some of the important government sites of the US and South Korea. Accounts have it that the virus caused the slowing down of the government sites of the said countries.
This virus is so far the newest culprit in the cyberattacks that caused mayhem to the South Korean government and its people as well as to the government of the US and the American people. Computers and the internet are to be considered parts of the everyday living in today’s world - that is why targeting sites that are commonly visited for facts and information cause much confusion and anxiety.
And after thorough search and investigations, the source of the destructive and disturbing virus has been traced. According to Korea Communications Commission report on Friday, the host Web site who distributed the virus is based in Austria, Georgia, Germany, South Korea and the United States. This come quite a surprise to the National Intelligence Service because North Korea, who was considered a suspect in this mayhem, is not part of the list. However, North Korea’s name still remains unclean despite not being in it. Investigators also provided little information about the identity and whereabouts of the persons who have caused the spread of the virus.
Virus attacks, also termed as cyberattacks, are not new. There are many ways to circulate virus and disturb everyday life. Massive distribution of virus, like in this case, targeted well-guarded sites. There are also viruses that come in a form of emails, attachments and files.
